LA Vacation - Day 6 - Home Sweet Home!

Today we headed home. It's fun to leave the kids home because we definitely had something to look forward to. We were really excited to get home and see the boys. We got up this morning and I went running while Tim slept in. We got ready for the day, packed up and headed out. We were an hour away from the airport so it took all day to turn our rental car in and get to the aiport. We finally got home and saw the boys. They were just as excited to see us. They both gave us big hugs and actually remembered us. They had so much fun with their grandparents that we didn't think they would even want to come home. Payton wanted to get home so that he could see what our house looked like because he couldn't remember. Tim and I had such a fun vacation thanks to our awesome families for helping with the boys. It was so fun because we knew that they were being well taken care of. Thanks family, we love you!! As soon as we picked up the boys from my parents house we went to Tim's parents house to see Andi & Jdub's family. Tim had never seen his new little niece, Brice, so he got to see her for the first time. The boys were so excited to see their cousin Ashton. They are going to be in town all summer so we are excited to spend lots of time with them.

On our way home!

LA Vacation - Day 5

Today was the best day of our trip. We simply relaxed! We got up this morning and went jogging on a trail by the resort. After our workout, we went and ate breakfast at the restaraunt in our hotel. The breakfast buffet was incredible! I couldn't stop eating. After breakfast, we got into our swimsuits and headed to the beach. The sun was out and it was gorgeous! We walked to the beach from our resort. It was a little bit chilly (in the 60's) and everyone in the water was wearing wetsuits so we didn't even attempt to get in the water. We really wanted to boogie board, but were not stupid enough to get in freezing cold water. After we spent a few hours at the beach we went back to the resort and hung out by the pool. The cabana boys & girls brought us fruit, spritzed water to cool us off and offered us drinks and food. I think it was probably how my kids feel at home. It was wonderful being taken care of! After we were officially baked. We headed inside. We got cleaned up and headed out on the town. We got some take out food then we came back to our room and, once again, watched another Jazz Game on our vacation. However, this game was not worth it. Luckily, I had a good book to read!! Here are pictures of the resort and us at the beach.

LA Vacation - Day 4

Today we checked out of our hotel in Beverly Hills and headed down the coast to Laguna Beach. On our way out of town we stopped at Sprinkles to pick up some cupcakes. It took us a couple days to eat them because they were so rich, but they were delicious. I loved the frosting! We got down to Laguna Beach and it was so crowded (it was Memorial Day Weekend). We couldn't check in to our hotel yet so we walked down the beach, walked through the shops and ate lunch at BJ's. They had the most delicious deep dish pizza. After lunch we headed down to our hotel in Dana Point. It was a gorgeous resort. Our room wasn't that much better than our other hotel, but the resort was incredible. We got changed and headed down to the pool. There was someone getting married right by the pool. We watched the ceremony from the hot tub. After we finished swimming and watching the wedding ceremony, we got changed and went to Ruby's for dinner. They had yummy fries and delicious shakes.

Are we having fun yet?!?

Someone offered to take our picture...how sweet!

I'm really getting sick of pictures!

LA Vacation - Day 3

This morning we ate breakfast in our hotel. After breakfast, we headed to Dodger Stadium to see the Dodger's play the Chicago Cubs. The stadium was really cool and it was so fun to be there. We had really close seats on the first baseline. The game was pretty lame, but the atmosphere was fun. I think there were more Cubs fans than there were Dodgers fan's at the game. It was hard to tell who the home team was. After the game we drove back to our hotel on Sunset Blvd. (We passed the spot where Lindsey Lohan wrecked her car later that night. It was the lead story on the news in LA the rest of the time we were there.) We got back to our hotel and watched the Jazz Game. Luckily, the Jazz made it worth our time. After the Jazz's victory we decided to celebrate by going to In N' Out Burger. Yummy! Then we stopped at the Ralph's Grocery Store by our hotel to pick up some vacation neccessities...Ben N' Jerry's Ice Cream, Vitamin Water, Mountain Dew and an US Weekly (I had to see what was happening in LA.)

LA Vacation - Day 2

We slept in this morning...it was wonderful! When you have little kids it's amazing what a treat sleep becomes! We got to stay up late and sleep in until 9am. It felt like half the day was over when we finally got up. After we did get going we went to "The Grove," which was a beautiful shopping/theatre area. We saw "Pirates of the Carribean." I liked it, but Tim didn't like it as well as the others. After the movie, we walked around and shopped. There was a Farmer's Market right next to The Grove so we went over there and ate lunch (Tim was a little worried that we would be sick, but we are fine...so far!) It was a cool place. We left and decided to check out more of LA. We drove up one of the canyon roads and found a cool lookout place. We hiked up about 1 mile (I was in heels, but it was worth it). It was gorgeous. We headed back down the canyon and drove around some more until it was time for our dinner reservation. Tim thinks we've spent most of the time driving. California traffic really is horrible, but it's an experience! We ate dinner at The Ivy (another suggestion from Lisa's friend.) It was a very charming restaurant. We were enjoying it so much I forgot to take pictures. Our dinner was delicious and the key lime pie was incredible! It was pricey, but it was worth it. The service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful.

Here we are at the lookout point.

You can't see most of the city because of all the smog.

LA Vacation - Day 1

Tim and I decided to take a long weekend vacation to Los Angeles. This was our first day here. Our vacation started out great. We got to the airport and they asked for volunteers to take a later flight (one hour later). We decided to volunteer. We got 2 flight vouchers and $42 in food vouchers just for waiting 1 hour. It was such a sweet deal! We got to LA and checked into our hotel in Beverly Hills. We were so tired from staying up until 2am the night before getting ready that we crashed as soon as we got to the hotel and took a nap. We woke up, got ready and headed out on the town. Our hotel is just 2 blocks from Rodeo Drive, Robertson Blvd, lots of great restaurants and shopping. We checked everything out and then ate dinner at Marix Tex Mex (thanks to the suggestion from Lisa's friend.) The food was wonderful and it was a cute little restaurant. After dinner, we headed to Pantages theatre to see Wicked. The theatre was gorgeous. I couldn't get a good picture because it was so dark, but it was incredible. The play, WICKED, was amazing! It was better than I could have hoped it would be. This was the main reason we came to LA so that I could see Wicked. I've had the soundtrack for awhile and loved it. Seeing the play was amazing and lots of fun!

Way to go, Tim!

Tim got a hat trick tonight at his soccer game. He scored 3 goals. Way to go, Tim! I think that's pretty awesome.

It was a Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was my Birthday and Clint's Birthday. My brother and I share a birthday. I think it's pretty special. I was planning on taking the boys to the zoo, but it was too cold so I decided to take them to Cabela's (hey, they have animals...they might be dead...but they are animals!) The kids loved it! My family came over last night for a BBQ and to watch the Jazz lose again!! Despite the Jazz loss, I still had a great birthday! Thanks to all my friends and family for making it a great day!

Checking out the animals.

Happy Birthday, Brother!

Star Wars Legos

Here are the boys playing Star Wars Legos. This game possesses little children (and grown men). Payton could play this for hours if I would let him and Parker loves to play. Of course, Payton is just letting Parker pretend to play. He's not good enough to really play yet.

I'm Sorry Pay-Tee

This is Parker apologizing to Payton for throwing a toy at him. After Payton started crying, Parker went up to Payton and gave him a big hug and said, "I'm sorry Pay-Tee."

Weekend Update

It's the start of a new week and I thought that I would recap our busy and fun weekend. On Friday I did yard work all day long. I repainted our patio stairs and our old table and chairs. (I'm getting a new patio set for my birthday.) We went to Payton's T-ball game then came home and did more yard work until it was dark. I love a productive day! On Saturday morning we went to Payton's soccer game. After the game, I went to lunch with some friends at Trio. After lunch we went to Coldstone for some yummy ice cream. It was a fun afternoon with the girls! I got home and ran to my friends baby shower just to drop off a gift. I came back home and we headed to Tim's soccer game. They won! From his soccer game, we went to the Luau (pictures are below). On Sunday we did the usual church things. After church we went to Tim's parents house for dinner. We celebrated my birthday with his family. It was a lot of fun!

Payton's Soccer Game

Here are some pictures my parents took at Payton's soccer game on Saturday.

Here is Payton running with the ball on a fast break. He took it all the way down to the goal and it hit the outside post. So close!

Huddle up! Tim is the coach. He does a good job babysitting...I mean...coaching these kids.

Here is a picture of Brady after a grooming accident he had this weekend. We love you Brady and hope that you recover soon. Or at least, we hope that your hair grows back soon!

Luau

On Saturday night, we went to a Luau for Tim's cousin that got married in Hawaii. It was a lot of fun!
