what did you do for christmas vacation?

The boys and I had lots of fun with all our family in town...

while Tim, Jdub, Eric, Kent & Brady framed our basement!

Here are the weirdos handymen staging a picture in the boys room/closet.  Unfortunately, the handiest man of all (Brady) wasn't there while we took a picture, but I'm sure we'll have plenty more opportunities to snap a shot of him as he's helping throughout the entire process.

In spite of these pictures, I'm very proud!

We decided to finish our basement, we got some bids, but Tim chose (through encouragement from his buddy Shane) to tackle the framing himself.  Obviously, he knew he would have help from his brothers and Dad.  He's lucky to have some serious expertise and tools within his family and friends.  These boys whipped out the framing of our basement in just a few days.  Tim may be turning into a handyman himself.

Next steps...hvac, central vac, insulation and electrical all before the nastiest project of all...sheet rocking!  Tim's got this bug now and is interested in doing some more of this himself.  Wish us luck.

note to self

My friend, Dani, gave me this wonderful idea.  She did this last year and said that it made a huge difference in her Christmas this year.  I think this will be one of my new post-Christmas traditions.  You can see my other post-holiday traditions here.

our (not so) little bergstrom family

Erika, Brian & Harper were in town for the holidays. They live in Fort Collins, Colorado. We only get to see them a couple times a year so we always have to soak up as much of them as we can when they come. The day after Christmas we had dinner and a little party at our home.  It's crazy how fast our family has grown in the past year.  We've added three new members...Willis, Sophia & Harper.  I'm sure it will only continue to get bigger and crazier and more fun!  My family endured sitting around the table and playing my conversation card games.  After my silly games everyone really wanted to get the party started.

This pretty much sums up the night.  With everyone having an Ipad or an Iphone there were lots of Reckless Racing games and Scrabble going on.  We call it family interaction!  Is that wrong?

Those not playing with the Ipads and Iphones were playing on the Kinect.

My Mom is still a great cheerleader.  She sat and watched these boys forever and genuinely acts interested!

Grandpa is the best babysitter.  As you can tell, all the grand kids flock to him.  They all need to be bouncing on him, jumping off of him or sitting on his lap.  They can't get enough.  They LOVE their Grandma too, but Grandpa has some magical spell over them.

I love my family!  It's so fun to watch everyone grow up, change and flourish.  Everyone is doing so well.  We are all happy and healthy!  Here's hoping that 2011 brings the same blessings to our family as this past year has brought.

christmas day

It was another wonderful Christmas Day...how could it not be, right?  Santa visited our house once again and the kids were in heaven.  Our Christmas routine, as most of you know, is packed with fun during the wee hours of the morning.  This year was no exception.  However, it was the first year that our kids actually woke us up instead of us having to wake them up.

{6:00 am Payton came in to tell us that Santa had come!}

Cooper was still a little sleepy because we had to wake him up.  He wasn't very happy about posing with his Jazz Jersey on.  He wanted to be playing with his new toys!
{7:30 am Bergstrom's Home}
Krista & Willis in matching PJ's
Mrs. Sophia still half asleep
Harper opening gifts and wondering what is going on?
The boys so excited about their new Build-a-Bears!
The beautiful chaos...isn't it wonderful?
{9:00 am Grandma Chesnut's Home}

After we open presents, Grandma treats us to her traditional biscuits & gravy breakfast.  It's everyone's favorite Christmas Tradition.

{10:30 am Jones's Home}
 By this point in the day we are all exhausted and ready for a nap.  It seems that every single year I forget to take pictures at Jones's.  Jenny?  Kent?  I need some pics!  I do have this picture to prove that we were there.  Kent & Ann gave us an Xbox Kinect for Christmas.  As soon as we returned home that evening (8:00 pm) the boys had this hooked up and were busy playing.

After opening presents at Jones's we hung out there all afternoon.  The kids played with all their new toys and had fun with cousins.  We vegged out on the couch and played some games.  We then went back to my Grandma's home for her traditional Christmas dinner.  We finally arrived home late in the evening.  I love to help my boys lay out all their new items and see the joy in their faces as they realize they truly hit the jackpot!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, too!
