our brave man

Parker has had to be poked and prodded quite a few times over the last couple months. We've discovered that Parker has a Growth Hormone Deficiency. We're still trying to figure out what all this means and determine treatment. Unfortunately for Parker, the poking and prodding has just begun. This week he had to have an MRI {which will only be his first of many in the future}. They had to sedate him, but he didn't even make a peep when they inserted the IV. He was so brave!

{Happy as ever, moments after getting the IV placed, picking out a treasure!}

{I know, this picture is so sad.
The nurses prepping him before they put him into the MRI machine.}

{Sleeping peacefully after the procedure was over.
We couldn't wake him for hours after they were finished.}

The good news is that Parker has no idea what is going on. He is just loving all the attention he is getting. He doesn't care why people are giving him cards, cupcakes and cookies...he'll take whatever attention he can get! He loves going to Primary Children's and playing video games, picking out of the treasure box and getting spoiled rotten.

Oh Brittany! I feel for you and for Parker! I know how hard it is to have to spend so much time at Primary's. They do treat you wonderful, but it is always better to not have to be there. I'm so glad to hear that Parker is being such a champ. That makes things so much easier. Good luck! Parker is lucky to have such a great mom to get him through all the yucky stuff.

I am so sorry for Parker. I almost went through the same thing with Whitney, but she pulled through. I know I'm farther away and not close family. But, if you need anything let me know. He is such a cute boy, and I'm glad he is positive through this. It will make it easier for you and Tim to help him.

Oh these pics make me sad- My oldest has had to spend a lot of time at Primary's because she has kidney problems and I just hate to see little people have to go through so much. I hope Parker will be ok. What a brave little man!

Poor little guy! What a brave boy though. Is is something similar to what Trevor Egan had? Not sure that's even what he had though. I forget....I hope things go well and that this big modern world of medicine treats him well.

Hey babe,
My new nephew has this same or a similar problem. He is 4 1/2 years old and wears a size 2T. He recently started getting hormone shots. When we were in St. George with him, I was watching him get his shot in his butt. He slowly counted to 10 and then it was over. I must have looked so scared for him because he looked over at me and said "It's okay Aunt Chell, big boys don't cry over shots". It was so cute. Parker is going to be so fine...he is going to be great. I think one of the things that we can be grateful for is that we live in a day and age when these things are fixable and current technology can make them not that big of a deal. Let me know if I can help, or if you want to talk with my sister about the processes they went through to make the decisions that they made!
Love ya.

You are one strong mom. Seriously, you have a great perspective of life and that is so evident. I admire your strength and you have obviously passed that on to your children. His smile just makes you want to smile. I love how kids are clueless to most things in life and they see the joy in everything. Thank you for sharing your personal family journey, we will keep you in our prayers and thoughts!
