First Day of Kindergarten

Yesterday was Payton's first day of Kindergarten. It was a milestone day in our lives. It's something that you think about your entire life...sending your first born to school. You know it is coming, but are never really completely ready for it. However, Payton was very ready! He was so excited, which made me so excited and happy for him. I'm proud (and a little surprised) to say there were no tears from me...just excitement! He was so excited because he got to ride the school bus. He marched right up the street, waited in line with all the big kids and marched on to the school bus. When he got to school he walked right over to the playground (and couldn't get to it because there were SOOO many parents standing around), but when he finally got through he ran on to the playground and started playing. He walked over to the fence to give us the look of "Why are you still here? You're embarassing me." Then the bell rang and he went and lined up by the door just like he was supposed to. We are so proud of Payton and glad that he enjoyed his first day of school!!

(Here's the short story about what happened after school. The bus broke down, but Payton didn't want me to take him home. He wanted to wait for another bus so I left and went home. In the end, he ended up coming home with one of my friends (practically a stranger)...what a crazy first day...Payton didn't seem to mind!!)

I'm not a stranger! Look how much taller Abby is than all the other kids. Welcome to our life.

I said that you were "practically" a stranger. Does Payton even know you're name? Yes, he's seen you at church and around, but how does he know that I trust you? We should have had a code word or something?!? I'm just teasing! I was just trying to make the story sound more dramatic.

How exciting! I remember your first day of kindergarten, actually your first week! You walked home before school ended and you didn't want to go back. I had to sit outside of the classroom for a few days after, so you wouldn't leave. I'm glad Payton had a better experience!

Payton is a stud. I told Patty when she told me the night before to call you and tell you to nix the bus idea and I'd come out and take him. You guys were never in a bus area and as irritating as it was at times to take you, now I firmly believe that busses should be banned. And now I find out it broke down. Is that the story they are sticking with? I bet the driver was a psycho and went balistic or was falling down drunk. I'm glad to see someone did not listen to their kid and stayed around to transport them home safely. Lindsey, I don't think we've met, but bless you. Brittany, get some binoculars and stake out that school and keep watch on him 24/7 and follow the bus to and from.

That is so great that he did so well on his first day!! It makes it hard on moms when their children don't need them as much! Ashton thinks he can do everything by himself. Its nice when he asks for help or tells me that he wants to go home with me after preschool!
