payton's baptism

{Baptism}

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”  Baptism is a holy ordinance through which we covenant with the Lord to accept Jesus as our Savior and to keep His commandments.  In return, God promises to forgive us of our sins as we repent and to bless us with His Spirit. {John 3:5}

{Gift of the Holy Ghost}

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”  Those who receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and remain worthy can enjoy His companionship throughout their lives.  The Holy Ghost provides direction and comfort and testifies of truth. {John 14:26}

We are so proud of Payton and the decision he made to be baptized.  It was an extremely special and sacred day for our family.  His baptism was perfect!  We felt so lucky to be surrounded by so many family and friends.  Payton really appreciated all the love and support he received from everyone.

Payton was glowing all day long.  He has been waiting for this day for a long time.  He's never had any doubts about getting baptized and has always been super excited.  He didn't seem nervous at all; just happy!  Payton has loved wearing his new suit "just like Dad's."  He also loves his new scriptures and can often be found reading them.

I absolutely love Payton's sweet spirit and his unwavering faith in the gospel.  This boy knows his stuff.  He knows the scripture stories better than I do.  As we have been preparing Payton for baptism over the past year, I've been so impressed with how much he really comprehends.  I know that he is ready to be accountable and I'm grateful that he's taken this wonderful step in his life!
